Post-Tour Depression: A Cheer-Up Guide

After a spectacular send off on Friday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are nestled in their beds in Kensington Palace, enjoying a good, hard-earned lie in to relax and recuperate after their Royal Tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Farewell, Royal Tour!

The rest of us are staring at the ceiling, wondering what we are supposed to do with our lives now that the tour is over.

While we hope you spent the weekend cuddled in bed, returning to a somewhat-regular sleep schedule (no more time zone problems – huzzah!), now that we have returned to the week, things are different. There are no more events scheduled. No reason to stay up until 3a.m. There are no more videos of Cheeks showing us his cheeks or Kate showing us how to garden in five inch heels.

Even Wills and Kate are sad its over.

You may be experiencing post-tour depression, a feeling of sadness, loss or confusion resulting in the end of a Royal Tour. Of course, this is no where near as serious as medically identified depression, but still. We’re sad. We need to be cheered up. There is a hole in our hearts and in our nightly schedules, where we would stare at Twitter, or a tarmac, or a UN Security Council meeting until the ray of sunshine that is the royals brightened our evenings.

Fear not, there are ways to cheer up! Do not despair, we are here to help.

“Don’t be sad! Look at my chubby little cheeks!”

One of the major contributing factors to Post-Tour Depression is a severe lack of Cheeks. If you’re missing Gorgeous George and his Gorgeous Cheeks, look no further than this link. 83 pages of pictures of Cheeks. Scroll through, send your favorites to friends (or us!), and feel the joy that only those chubby little cheeks can bring.

Who doesn’t love shopping?

Everyone knows retail therapy is an effective and easy way to turn that frown upside down. The past few weeks saw so many fabulous ensembles on Kate that you can’t help but want to buy a repliKate. There is nothing more cheerful than clutching a crisp carrier bag in your fingers, or hearing the knock of the mailman delivering a box of happiness (and shoes). Click any of the outfits above to get a Kate-inspired piece for your closet!

Even Kate knows that chocolate and baking makes for a happy duchess!

We are firm believers that cooking can cheer anyone up, especially if that cooking involves chocolate and cake. Check out our latest recipe for the Chocolate Biscuit Cake, which famously appeared at the Royal Wedding reception. Speaking of which…

Our favorite holiday of the year…what’s not to love?!

…there is something to look forward to! While it isn’t an official engagement, it is an official holiday! Tomorrow is the Royal Wedding Anniversary, and there is so much to celebrate. William and Catherine are celebrating 3 happy, glorious years of marriage. Read last year’s celebratory article, and come back tomorrow for this year’s Royal Wedding Anniversary celebrations!

How did you cheer up from the post-tour blues? We’d love to hear from you!
